How does an online consultation with a specialist work?
You book a time, share any relevant medical reports through your secure patient portal, and join a video call with the specialist at the appointment time. After the consultation, the doctor sends a written summary and, where appropriate, a prescription or recommended next steps. Everything happens within MedBridge Access - no third-party apps needed.
How much does a consultation cost?
Costs depend on the specialty and whether you need a one-off consultation, a detailed second opinion with report review, or full treatment planning. All fees are shown clearly before you confirm a booking, with no hidden charges. We accept international payments in major currencies.
What is a second medical opinion and how is it different from a consultation?
A second opinion is a detailed written review of an existing diagnosis or treatment plan by a specialist in that field. It usually involves the specialist reviewing your scans, reports and history before a video discussion, and produces a formal written opinion you can share with your local doctor. A regular consultation is a more direct doctor-patient conversation, typically without the same depth of prior file review.
Will I need to travel to India?
For most consultations and second opinions, no - everything happens online from your home. Travel is only required if you and the doctor agree that in-person treatment in India is the right next step. In that case, we coordinate the entire journey including visas, hospital admission, accommodation, transfers and post-treatment follow-up.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Have your relevant medical records, recent scans, lab reports and a list of current medications ready before the call. Upload them to your patient portal in advance so the doctor can review before the consultation. Test your camera and microphone, and join the call from a quiet place with a stable internet connection.
Are the doctors on MedBridge Access verified?
Yes. Every doctor on the platform is credential-checked before they can offer consultations. Most are senior consultants at NABH- or JCI-accredited Indian hospitals, with international training and significant experience treating international patients.
What about visas if I do need to travel to India?
India offers a dedicated Medical Visa (M-Visa) and Medical Attendant Visa for accompanying family. Our team helps with the documentation, including the invitation letters from partner hospitals required for the application. Eligibility and process vary by country - we guide you through the specifics for your nationality.
Is my medical information secure?
Yes. Patient records, video calls, document uploads and payments are encrypted with industry-standard infrastructure. Information is only accessible to the specific doctors involved in your care and the small support team coordinating your case.
Can I get a prescription after the consultation?
Indian doctors can issue prescriptions, but whether a foreign prescription is dispensable in your country depends on your local regulations. For controlled or restricted medications you will usually need to take the recommendation to a local doctor for a domestic prescription. We can explain the typical position for your country during the consultation.
What languages do the doctors speak?
All consultations are conducted in English. For patients more comfortable in another language, we can arrange consultations with doctors who speak Arabic, French, Russian, or other major languages where available, or provide interpreter support on request.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Most consultations can be scheduled within 24 to 72 hours of booking. Urgent cases involving recent serious diagnoses are typically accommodated faster - contact our team directly if you need to speak to a specialist within 24 hours.
What if I am not satisfied or change my mind?
If you cancel before your consultation begins, you receive a full refund. If a technical issue prevents your consultation from happening, we either reschedule at no extra cost or refund you. Our full policy is detailed in the Conditions of Sale linked in the footer.
